On 25 September, from 18:00 to 21:00, the Researchers’ Night Festival 2026 event “Energy” will take place at Engineering Park, located next to the Discovery Centre of Energy at Põhja Boulevard 29, on the edge of Tallinn’s Old Town.

The three-hour programme will focus on science, researchers, and energy in its broadest sense, ranging from food and ideas to solar panels and oil shale. Throughout the evening, visitors can participate in science sessions and guided tours, explore technological innovations, and enjoy Aare Baumer’s Electricity Theatre and drone football demonstrations. The evening will conclude with a concert by ALIKA.

According to Darja Saar, Director of the Discovery Centre of Energy, the event aims to bring science and technology closer to people and show how energy and engineering shape everyday life.

“Science, hands-on activities, technology, and entertainment come together in one programme, offering visitors of all ages an opportunity to discover the world of energy from new perspectives,” said Saar.

One of the highlights of the festival programme will be a performance by Estonia’s renowned science communicator Aare Baumer, whose Electricity Theatre introduces the fascinating phenomena of electricity through practical experiments and live demonstrations.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about hydrogen, its properties, and its applications through workshops led by TiVo, TalTech’s student hydrogen organisation. A historical perspective on energy will be provided by Elektrilevi, which is organising a guided tour dedicated to the electrification of Estonia. The tour will be led by Elektrilevi engineer Raivo Rebane and will take participants through Tallinn’s Old Town and Kadriorg.

The practical side of science and technology will be represented through a variety of hands-on activities. The Discovery Centre of Energy will present the results of its Science Garden citizen gardening experiment, “Cotton Socks”. Vivita’s Solutions Laboratory will create an interactive Energy City installation, while visitors can also watch drone football matches at the Discovery Centre grounds. The “Towards Zero” excursion will provide insights into environmental sustainability topics.

The event will also feature a food street, exploring the theme of energy through food and everyday life.

The “Energy” festival day will culminate in a live performance by ALIKA and her band on the main stage.

Admission to the Researchers’ Night Festival event “Energy” is free of charge for all visitors, but needs registration in prior in Fienta!

The Researchers’ Night Festival is organised by Science Centre AHHAA, with the Discovery Centre of Energy and Rakett69 Science Studios serving as co-organisers.
