The Tallinn City Power Station was in operation from 1913 till 1979. Nowadays the building is home to Energy Discovery Centre. The old power station’s turbo generators and elements of the control room have been restored and included to the Centre’s exhibition. But that is only a fraction of the machines and instruments used daily in the old power station.

This exhibition features a selection of electrical instruments from the early 20th century. You can learn about each instrument’s principle of operation, and through that learn (or recall) the basic terms connected with electricity.

Most of the instruments are indeed from the old Tallinn Power Station, others are from the collections of the Energetics Museum, that was housed in the building from 1993 till 1998 before the Centre was established.
